The word "karma" is usually translated as action. Some metaphysical
teachers consider the Law of Karma as a spiritual parallel to Newton's
Third Law of Motion: "For every action there is an equal and opposite
reaction." In other words: Whatever you've done, or what has been done to you, in a past life, whether kindly or callously motivated, eventually comes back to you.
In
no department of life is our Karma more intense than in our romantic
bonds. Difficulties with love can often be cleared up if you are aware
of the Karmic reasons behind them and learn what you can do to set
things right. Whatever challenges you're having in your present love
relationships are complex, and tough to work out without knowing what
lies beneath the surface. Karmic Love astrology is the science of
discerning, as accurately as possible, the planetary dynamics which
parallel what's happening to you in your romantic life - and therefore
providing clues as to how best to resolve your difficulties and fulfill
your love destiny.
Some great spiritual teachers believe that
romantic love is the closest we on the physical plane can come to the
infinite love of the Divine. Therefore, for more than one reason, we
should make the most of it!

Sun in Taurus
The
Sun represents your basic attitudes towards relationships of all kinds,
including love bonds. In Karmic Love Astrology, the Sun represents the
lesson meant to be learned about relationships in the present
incarnation, which is rooted in experiences in relationships that took
place in previous lives, and how you've dealt with other people in
general and love partners in particular. The key phrase here is balance: balancing your needs as fairly as possible with the needs of the one you love.
Taurus
is by nature a very warm and loving sign. In prior lives, those born
under Taurus have probably been that way again and again: people who
have devoted themselves to caring for others - sometimes to their own
detriment. You may have been the devoted parent who basically lived for
their children; or a healer or teacher. You might even have been a
king, chieftain, prime minister, or other government official whose
primary concern was the people who depended on you. Outsiders may have
viewed you as someone who was overly concerned with money, but, while
true, this was rarely for your own benefit. You wanted to make sure
that whoever relied on you would have enough resources to survive.
Yet
not everyone under your jurisdiction was as caring a person as you
were. There were those who demanded more, who caused you grief when the
resources at your disposal simply weren't enough. They refused to
acknowledge that perhaps you were doing the best you could - which led
to heavy disillusionment on your part. Thus, in subsequent
incarnations, you may have manifested the negative side of Taurus:
selfishness, materialism, greed. Now it's time to return to being
loving and caring again - particularly with regard to your romantic
relationships. Generosity, attention, and general TLC are vital to the
success of any love relationship. The challenge is to continue to love
this person devotedly even if he or she manifests some of the
selfishness suggestive of the people who were around you in past lives.

Moon in Aries
The
Moon represents your memories, and thus has dominion over the
unconscious remembrance of previous incarnations which still persist
even into a lifetime that involves new ideas, new lifestyles, new
customs, and new attitudes about love. The Moon also rules your
emotions, generated by experience that can get in your way when a
significant present-day romantic incident pushes buttons that awaken
unconscious memories of similar but distressing past-life events.
Without awareness, this lunar aspect of your Love Karma can reinforce
resistance to such triggering occurrences that can block comprehension
and full satisfaction of them. This is probably what happens with
modern-day "commitmentphobes." Awareness of these past-life events,
however, can enable you to avoid allowing them to compromise your love
life.
The Moon in Aries implies that in one or more previous
incarnations, you were stymied and stifled by your love relationships.
You may have attracted demanding partners who gave you little time for
yourself, or have been so busy providing for a spouse and family that
you never really knew who you were - apart from being a spouse or
parent. When you were courting, you obeyed the existing societal rules
for courtship, and never allowed your behavior to go beyond the line
approved by your community. You created, needless to say, circumstances
under which it was easy for your mate to take you for granted. In at
least one incarnation, you may have gone ignored and unappreciated.
Now,
in the present incarnation, it's time to realize that you matter, too -
and to let prospective love mates know exactly what you expect from a
relationship before getting too deeply involved with them. Compromises,
of course, will have to be made, but NEVER allow yourself to be so
besotted or desperate that you give in to nearly everything your
partner wants that isn't in accord with your needs. Remember, the
keyword is balance: If you're willing to put in the effort, you can
always create a win-win situation.
You do this by taking the
best of your past-life love experiences - consideration, compassion,
and sensitivity to the feelings of your mate - and combining them with
your present-life self-awareness. Success in love never comes easy -
but with a little wisdom, it does come.

Venus in Aries
Venus
is the planet of love, and thus represents an entire body of experience
vital to humanity's spiritual evolution. Some spiritual teachers
believe that we're here to have relationships, and that the principle
ruling the entire Solar System is love. The Arthurian romances of the
High Middle Ages were not, contrary to popular opinion, mere tales of
valiant knights fighting horrific enemies. Their principle was that
love is more important than anything - including bravery, honor,
loyalty to one's king, and even one's devotion to God. Thus Venus is
among the most important factors in Karmic relationship astrology.
Venus
in Aries indicates a long series of past-life love experiences that are
so painful, you've consigned them to the furthest reaches of your
reptilian brain. Nonetheless, the unconscious memories still linger.
You may have been a child of the nobility or wealthy merchant class who
was forced to marry someone you found repulsive for financial or
political reasons. Or you could have been compelled to watch a loved
one die under tortuous conditions - perhaps during a war, a famine, or
a deadly epidemic like the Black Death. Whatever the source of these
memories, they have caused you to build up a resistance to becoming too
attached to one particular person.
Has your social life been
dominated by a large number of superficial acquaintances - but very few
close friends? Have you had love relationships where you either find or
actually create reasons to break up as soon as you start leaning
towards commitment? Unconsciously, you're trying to avoid
reexperiencing the horrific emotions associated with love in your past
lives. Yes, if you keep unwittingly sabotaging every love bond you
form, you'll never again go through the pain you went through before.
Yet you'll avoid all the joys of love as well.
Life is about
taking chances; bad things may or may not happen. Yet part of being
human is learning to live in the moment. In spite of what may or may
not happen in the future, we're here to enjoy the present. Open your
heart and let love in.

Mars in Sagittarius
Mars
is the planet of energy and action, and also of sex and desire.
Depending upon its sign placement, it can work either for you or
against you. Karmically, Mars points to romantic blocks and
frustrations suffered in previous lifetimes, and its sign position
indicates the area of your love life in which those blocks have been
centered - and also indicates how you can counteract them and create
the necessary balance. In Karmic Love astrology, Mars implies the
necessity for a heightened level of action to strive for whatever you
have found lacking in your previous lives.
With Mars in
Sagittarius, you tend to want to be constantly in motion. Lassitude
does not find you at your best, and you would rather do just about
anything than sit around doing nothing. The downside of this is that
you scatter your energies - especially your physical energy. Thus you
go from being perpetually in motion to total exhaustion, when all you
really want is just to sleep. In some of your previous incarnations,
you were a seafarer, perhaps a merchant, military man, or, most likely,
a pilgrim or evangelist, carrying the word of the God to far-off
places. In other lifetimes, you probably never traveled very far from
the place where you were born. Yet the unconscious memories of
lifetimes when you traveled created a sense of longing - and thus, in
those lives, you were very, very bored.
In the present life, you
might find it difficult to sit still. You want to be constantly in
motion. You always seem to have something to do - a job, errands to
run, anything but sitting still. This makes it difficult for you to
stop long enough to form a love relationship, or even meet anyone who
appeals to you. It's important to relax, to make it okay that you take
a little time to relax and socialize. Love can only come when two
people connect - and you can only connect when you get to know each
other. One caveat: Make sure you connect with someone who is as lively
and active as you.

Saturn in Taurus
Saturn
is the great Karmic taskmaster, forcing us to look back upon mistakes
we have made in previous incarnations and find ways to atone for those
mistakes. The longer we put off righting the wrongs reflected by our
Saturn position, the more pressing - and thus more difficult - setting
things right will be. In romance matters, Saturn can reflect either the
way we treated our love partners - or the way we were treated by them.
The sign position can point the way to finding a course of action that
can help to put this Karma behind us and experience true fulfillment in
love.
Saturn in Taurus implies several lifetimes of bad luck in
romance. Perhaps you died young and never found love; or more than one
lover betrayed you, or died before you. Whatever the circumstances, you
were left frustrated, perhaps with too many worldly responsibilities to
handle alone - and over the centuries you could have developed a hard
shell around your heart, too afraid to let love in for fear that you
would eventually be left bereft and alone. This may have saved you from
the pain that can follow love, but it also kept you from the joys of
love that make life worth living.
If you've had difficulties
with love in this life, part of it may be due to the hard shell you
have erected around your love center lifetime after lifetime. Now, it's
time to break that shell. Even if it appears that a present-life lover
was the one to end a relationship, you should ask yourself: Was I
really letting that person into my life?
Where love is
concerned, we basically all face a crucial decision: We can protect
ourselves from pain by avoiding love altogether, or we can risk it and
take a chance. Either way, we avoid both pain AND pleasure. Yet if we
really are here on Earth to have relationships, then by choosing to
avoid the pain of love, we're also cutting ourselves off from an
important part of our spiritual growth. Only you can decide the right
path for you. But before deciding, think carefully.

Neptune in Scorpio
The primary keyword for Neptune is illusion.
Nowadays, we tend to define "illusion" as blurring the boundaries
between the real and the unreal - and in no department of life is this
more commonplace than in romantic love. For example, one man can look
upon the object of his affections and see a Fairy Princess - while
another man might view the same woman as the Wicked Witch of the West.
For one person, love embodies a certain concept, and for another, the
concept is totally different. Karmically, Neptune implies the need to
reaffirm our vision of love, and, once that's determined, live by it.
Neptune
is also the planet of idealism, and Scorpio is related to values.
Everything that human beings value - money, power, love, sex - is ruled
by Scorpio, and so Neptune in this sign creates a tendency to believe
in fairy tales - the kind where the white knight in shining armor
always wins the heart of the beautiful princess. Have you always been
captivated with such stories? If so, you may have unconsciously been
reminded of rather recent previous incarnations when you actually were
lucky enough to find that sort of love. In some lifetimes, the
relationship ended in sorrow - but at least you had it, and could take
out the memories and savor them whenever you wanted. In others, the
relationship lasted a lifetime - in which case, deep down, you know
that you can find it again.
And you can. The only possible
pitfall here would be if you expect too much of your beloved. It's
important that you remember that those white knights and beautiful
princesses must have had their flaws, too. The poets simply chose to
leave that part out! Human beings are rarely if ever perfect - and the
ones who are have evolved beyond the need for earthly love. Short of
major character defects such as deceit, infidelity, abusiveness, and
violence, it's possible to love someone in spite of their flaws - in
fact, in some cases, you can even find their flaws endearing. Keep up
your high standards for love - but also, keep your expectations within
the realm of reality.

Love is perhaps one of the most misunderstood concepts in human
society. It has been defined in a number of different ways, and the
most common definition is "caring," and that is indeed correct. But
romantic love goes far beyond that. The powerful desire for total union
with your beloved - both in a physical and spiritual sense - separates
romantic love from less intense types such as friendly or family love.
Yet the very intensity of this type of love makes it sometimes
impossible to deal with; hence the widespread epidemic of relationship
troubles that has always inhibited the true happiness which we could
attain from romantic love.
Exploring
your romantic history throughout your incarnations on Planet Earth may
not cause your relationship problems to disappear as if by magic, but
it can enable you to view these problems from a more distant, objective
point of view. Knowledge is power, and awareness of both your success
and failure with regard to love in previous existences can enable you
to see trouble coming and take action to avert it. The release of
Karmic conundrums not only can improve your love life, but can help you
to become a better person as well - more complete in every way.
